Where will Aaron Rodgers play next?

There has been a lot of speculation as to what's next for both Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. No one knows what Rodgers is going to decide during his darkness retreat, not even Rodgers himself.

There are reports that the Packers would like to move on and are ready to find out what they have in Jordan Love, but one NFL insider suggests that that might not be the case.

Tom Pelissero said on the Rich Eisen Show:

"What I would say is that despite, you know, whatever reports are coming out on daily basis and speculation, the first move here belongs Aaron Rodgers, the Packers cannot trade him if he doesn't want to be traded. He would need to sign a revised contract to allow Green Bay to facilitate a trade."

Rodgers holds all the cards here, but Pelissero believes the Packers want to work with him:

"He also could simply say, I'm not going, if they try to trade him to someplace he doesn't want to go out retire, I'm not showing up. So they would have to work through that together. If he wants to return to Green Bay, the Packers and as long as he's fully bought in the Packers want him back. They had good conversations after the season."

The Packers, even after enduring one of their most frustrating seasons in a while, nearly made the postseason. With a win in their final game, they would have been in.

They're not exactly in desperate need of a rebuild, so with Rodgers still at the helm, they could compete. It all depends on what Aaron Rodgers wants to do at the end of the day, though.

Will Aaron Rodgers be in a new uniform next year?

Based on Pelissero's reporting, it seems there's a strong chance the Green Bay Packers will retain Aaron Rodgers. He would be difficult to trade given his enormous contract and he may not want to play elsewhere.

Teams are interested, like the New York Jets, Las Vegas Raiders and more. However, it might be all for naught as Rodgers may end up staying in Green Bay after all.
