Rich Eisen names his most disappointing NFL team of 2022

NFL fans of the Denver Broncos have been through the wringer since winning the Super Bowl in 2015. When Russell Wilson was added to the team, most expected their fates to change.

Instead, they're in arguably the worst position of the post-Manning era. Speaking on The Rich Eisen Show, NFL analyst Rich Eisen expressed his level of disappointment as to how it has turned out.

Sunday's loss to the Las Vegas Raiders sealed the deal for the pundit. Here's how he put it:

"The Raiders, who were, no question, the most disappointing team in the NFL going into Week 11, just beat the Broncos to sweep them... Raiders not only leapfrogging the Broncos in the standings, but leapfrogging the Broncos as a less disappointing team."

He continued, labeling Denver as the most disappointing team of the year as the team moves on from their running back:

"Broncos are officially now in my mind, the most disappointing team in the NFL coming into the season. I had to see it to believe it... So Denver falls, the last place in this division, and it's not even open to competition. It's over."

In 2015, when the Broncos were hoisting the Lombardi Trophy, some expected rough years ahead if Peyton Manning were to retire. But many expected some kind of a turnaround by now.

With Russell Wilson under centre every week, most expected the team to be the best of the post-Manning years and the start of a new era.

Instead, at 3-7, the team is in deep trouble and lacking the consolation of at least getting a top pick in the next draft. With Seattle owning the majority of Denver's early-round picks over the next two drafts, a turnaround is less likely in the eyes of most.

Meaning, the team could struggle in a similar fashion again next season, which would give Seattle another year of top-tier capital.

Then, in 2025, the team would finally be able to get top-tier draft picks once again. Will Russell Wilson be able to make the team's lack of draft capital an afterthought with a breakout performance to close out the season and next year? Or will the team continue on its current trajectory?
