The Seattle Seahawks have $17,438,554 in cap space ahead of the 2023 NFL season. The Pete Carroll-coached team is one of the most cap-rich teams and will have quite the fortune to build around.

The team has some players earning above $10 million, such as Dre'Mont Jones, Geno Smith, D.K. Metcalf, Quandre Diggs and Jamal Adams. However, only one of their players makes more than $20 million, and we will get to him in a moment.

Who is the highest-paid player on Seattle Seahawks?

Geno Smith is the highest-paid player on the Seattle Seahawks squad, with the Pro Bowler earning a mouthwatering $25 million per year in base value. The excellent part is that Smith's pay pales compared to fellow 2022 Pro Bowlers Josh Allen, Patrick Mahomes and pretty soon Jalen Hurts and Joe Burrow.

Smith more than earned his new $105 million contract, as he has been around the league since being drafted by the New York Jets in 2013. He was a starter in his first two seasons with the Jets, amassing two 2,500-plus passing-yard seasons. However, his consistency wanned, and he was benched for most of his third and fourth seasons with the Jets.

Eventually, he left them and joined the New York Giants as a backup. He put up a stat line of 212 passing yards, one touchdown and zero interceptions in one game before he was on the trade block yet again.

Geno Smith changed franchises again, joining the Los Angeles Chargers for the 2018 season as a backup. He appeared in five games, mainly as a wildcat QB, helping relieve whoever was starting in those games. He was let go by the Chargers at the end of the season.

Ahead of the 2020 NFL season, Smith joined the Seattle Seahawks as a backup for nine-time Pro Bowler Russell Wilson. He appeared in five games for the Seahawks over two seasons and put up respectable stats for a backup. You might have been forgiven that Smith peaked in Seattle, but something special was about to happen.

Russell Wilson, a Seattle legend, left the team ahead of the 2022 season, leaving the Seahawks needing a player to fill his enormous shoes. Step in Geno Smith as the former West Virginia University standout rewrote his NFL legacy.

Smith was incredible throughout the season, leading the Seattle Seahawks to a surprise postseason appearance. He put up a stat line of 4,282 passing yards, 30 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in 17 games. He also earned his first Pro Bowl nod and a nice contract to go home with ahead of the 2023 NFL season.
