Shannon Sharpe blasts Tom Brady for wildcard loss and Byron Leftwich firing

Did Tom Brady cause Byron Leftwich
Did Tom Brady cause Byron Leftwich's downfall?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, led by Tom Brady, played extremely poorly in their wild card loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Now, after a trying season, they're going home with more questions than answers.

One answer does seem to be that Byron Leftwich, their offensive coordinator, will be fired. Shannon Sharpe believes that's Brady's fault and that a firing isn't even necessary.

Sharpe said on Undisputed:

"He [Brady] played awful again last night. He's missing routine throws. This is Brady. Now I want to know any other quarterback... you killed Josh Allen for doing this. You just killed him the other day."

Sharpe added that Brady played poorly, but Leftwich would be scapegoated for it:

"Tom Brady is going home. You can talk two hours, he [is] going home and he looked bad. Now this [is] what's going to happen, ladies and gentlemen, at home, just in case you didn't know. Byron Leftwich is going to lose his job. You know why he's gonna lose a job? Because people like my partner and others will not place any blame on Tom Brady."

Sharpe pointed out that Leftwich had much success as a playcaller before, but if someone were to be blamed for the performance and the season, it was going to be the coordinator:

"Byron Leftwich called every play. The year they won the Super Bowl. They won the division three times in a row. Byron Leftwich called the plays. They won the division last year. But Byron Leftwich gotta pay the price. They're a bad playoff team. They were 8-9."

The Buccaneers offense could not move the ball and score and went home as a result.

Shannon Sharpe obliterates Tom Brady over forgettable season

Though the blame will likely be placed on Byron Leftwich, Shannon Sharpe fully believes there's one party that should be wholly accountable:

"Wow. A season to forget, 8-10, 53 QBR. Six multi touch down game. The fewest since his rookie season. 31 incompletion in a wildcard and a playoff, the most of career. So [Brady] looked like he had looked all year long. Bad."
Is Tom Brady or Byron Leftwich more to blame?

It's clear to Sharpe and possibly others that the glory days for Brady, as long as they lasted, are now over.
