Aaron Rodgers declared that he was going to a darkness retreat to help decide his future in the NFL. When he did, the media ran with that story. The quarterback is not happy about that.
Rodgers wanted to make the best decision and wanted to be clear of mind when he did, hence the isolation. However, the entire thing got a little out of hand according to the four-time MVP.
Rodgers believes the media ran with what was supposed to be an innocuous statement and said on the "Aubrey Marcus Podcast:"
"All I mentioned about it when I mentioned to the McAfee show was I'm gonna do an isolation retreat. And I feel like afterwards I'll be in a better place to make a decision about, what I'm thinking about for the future. And then there was, you know, people who wanted to be a part of the story again."
He continued, blasting those who made up narratives and said things that weren't accurate:
"I'm like, shut the f**k up. Stop with the b******t. Then it's like, oh, then he's going in on Thursday. It's like, No, I'm not. And then it's like, oh, he went out on Monday and he came out on Wednesday. He's only in there for two nights. No, I didn't."
He finished saying:
"And I understand that, you know, much of my life I think has been interesting to people. Because I have been a little bit of an enigma at times with, you know, trying to keep my private life private. Because I believed that that was really important.... And so there was this."
Rodgers has always been a popular figure for media members to play with, but this was something he wasn't expecting.
Has Aaron Rodgers made a decision?
Aaron Rodgers, despite leaving the darkness retreat, has not yet made a decision regarding his NFL future. He emerged a day early and finally spoke today, but he hasn't made a decision.
He does say that he'll be making a decision soon and that he knows there's a bit of urgency. However, he wants to make the best decision for himself and needs time to do so.
