Tom Brady and his ex-wife, Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen, sent their respective condolences to Pele, who passed away at 82 years old. Both Brady and Bundchen took to Instagram to share their condolences.

The former power couple shared an extra special connection with the soccer legend.

Back in September 2013, Pele made a special trip to Gillette Stadium to see Brady, who was with the Patriots at the time.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers star shared a photo of himself with Pele while with the New England Patriots. Bundchen shared a special image of her own with the late soccer star.

Pele's passing is a reminder that athletes who have cut across boundaries will be forever loved, no matter the sport.

Although the couple divorced earlier this year, each shared a special love for him. Both Bundchen and Pele were ambassadors for their home country of Brazil. Naturally, they would run into each other, even more so when together with Brady.

Tom Brady had an uphill challenge ahead of him.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers faced the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 55. Brady received some extra motivation from Pele, who wished him luck ahead of the matchup. The legendary soccer star sent a video to the quarterback.

Pele said:

"Tom, good luck in your tenth Super Bowl. Ten is my lucky number. Boa sorte, meu amigo!”

In that game, Brady went 21 of 29 passing for 201 yards and three touchdowns in the Buccaneers' 31-9 victory. The number 10 seemed to serve Tom Brady well, winning his seventh Super Bowl.

One thing is for sure, Pele definitely had a crossover appeal across all sports.
