Former Green Bay Packers tight end Lance Kendricks was arrested for driving under the influence this past weekend in Santa Monica, California. Just before 2:30 on Sunday morning, other drivers called police to report a Ford Bronco driving erratically and swerving between lanes. Police found the former NFL tight end passed out behind the wheel of the vehicle while it was still running.
The 34-year-old was given field sobriety tests by the Santa Monica Police Department and was deemed to be under the influence. His blood alcohol level was found to be twice the legal limit, and he was then arrested at the scene. He was booked and released on $5,000 bail. No information about where he was coming from or where he was going has been released.

This was not Kendrick's first run-in with the law, but it is his most serious offense. In 2017 and 2018, he was charged on misdemeanor marijuana possession charges. One charge came when he played for the Green Bay Packers and was returning from a Wisconsin college football game. He was stopped during a traffic stop when the marijuana was found. The charges were then dropped and no further action was taken against the tight end.

When did Lance Kendricks play in the NFL?
Former tight end Lance Kendricks played college football at the University of Wisconsin. After four seasons with the Badgers, he was then drafted in the second round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the St. Louis Rams.
He signed a four-year, $18.5 million contract extension with the Rams in 2015 but was released from the team in 2017. During his tenure with the Rams in both St. Louis and Los Angeles, he started 79 games, had over 2,100 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns.
Just days after he was released by the Rams, the Green Bay Packers signed Kendricks to a two-year contract. He played in 32 games throughout the two seasons for the Packers, starting just 12 of those games. He accumulated 373 receiving yards and just two touchdowns in two seasons with the Packers.
Kendricks signed with the New England Patriots in 2019 but was suspended for the first game of the season for violating the National Football League's substance abuse policy. The Patriots then released the tight end. He signed with the Chargers, but hasn't played in the NFL since.
