San Antonio Brahmas are one of eight teams in the XFL, owned by Hollywood star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson.

The DC Defenders, Vegas Vipers, Orlando Guardians, Seattle Sea Dragons, Arlington Renegades, Houston Roughnecks and St. Louis Battlehawks round out the other teams. The San Antonio Brahmas are a new team drawn into the league to take the place of the Los Angeles Wildcats.

The decision to locate a squad in San Antonio was logical, given how dynamic Texas is. Some around the nation were left with serious doubts about the mascot selection, Brahma, though.

We are aware that "The Brahma Bull" and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, the owner of the XFL, have a long history. The legendary WWE giant had a tattoo that's now concealed, but it closely resembled the San Antonio team's emblem.

It was also imprinted on several pieces of his Under Armor clothing collection. Was the San Antonio club basically named after Johnson? Here's a peek at the strain that inspired San Antonio's official mascot.

What does Brahma mean?

Bulls known as "Brahmas" have been reared in the United States since 1885. The bull was produced through cross-breeding between domestic cattle and an imported breed of cattle from Asia.

The American Brahman cow species has gained recognition all over the globe as a result of its tough outer skin, which is useful for protecting against parasites and its ability to endure hot, muggy weather. Because of that, it's the most prevalent cattle variety in Australia.

Taxonomically identified as Bos indicus, Brahman cattle are distinguished by their distinctively broad humps above their shoulders, as well as their protruding dewlaps, which run from their lower jaw to their chest.

The variety of cattle, which can measure more than 2,200 pounds for adult bulls and 1,400 pounds for adult cows, is well adapted to the Texas environment. That's because it has sweat glands all over the body that help it better regulate its body temperature.

What is the San Antonio Brahmas’ record for the XFL season?

The San Antonio Brahmas traveled to Arlington for a replay one week after losing heartbreakingly to the Renegades in the Alamodome. They completed the challenge this time.

Following that win, they improved their season record to 2-4. They're now third in the South division with four games left in the regular season.
