The NFL has made a splash across the pond in London and is now eyeing up Germany. A significant population of NFL fans will be delighted to be in attendance when American football comes to town. On the 13rd of November the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be taking on the Seattle Seahawks in what promises to be a great game. Just as playing games in London has become a second habit, the league hopes for similar success in Germany.

The three finalists in the hosting selection were Munich, Frankfurt and Dusseldorf. For the time being, the first ever and only match this season has been given to Munich to play at the Allianz Arena.

The Allianz Arena is a stadium primarily used for soccer in Munich, Germany. The stadium was built for both local clubs at the time: Bayern Munich and 1860 Munich. Bayern are one of the European soccer heavyweights and the most successful club in Germany. 1860 Munich have fallen on worse times since the stadium was built and have now relocated to a different stadium within the same city.

The capacity of the stadium is 70,000 internationally, going up to 75,000 for domestic matches. Domestic soccer matches allow for safe standing and that increases the total capacity for domestic matches. The configuration the NFL will follow is still unknown, but soccer matches within the German league take advantage of the expanded capacity.

The stadium is very modern and has an exterior that is empanelled and can change to any color depending on the theme or who is playing. Additionally, it is a proper rectangular soccer stadium where fans are closer to the action and acoustics are better. One of the reasons Bayern Munich moved into this stadium was that the old Olympiastadion as an oval did not give quite the same atmosphere.

The match promises to be a great one with Tom Brady and many superstars coming to Germany for international fans. The venue they have chosen will certainly add to the occasion. Allianz Arena is the perfect setting to hold its first match this time round as the NFL comes to Germany.
