Draft Day Press Conference
Actor Terry Crews played in the NFL.

Terry Crews played for four teams during his brief NFL career. The famous actor entered the league in 1991 when the Los Angeles Rams selected him in the 11th round of the 1991 NFL draft. Following his selection in that year's draft, he played for the Rams for two seasons before he was cut from their roster.

After that, Crews signed for a nearby team, the San Diego Chargers, where he spent two productive seasons. He appeared in ten games and registered one tackle for the Chargers during his time in San Diego.

The best point of call for Crews was in the capital, as the West Michigan University alum signed for the Washington Redskins for the 1995 NFL season. He appeared in 16 games at linebacker in 1995 for the Redskins, putting up a career-high two total tackles. Crews did most of his work on special teams, as he tried super hard to carve out a niche for himself in the league.

He was released by the Redskins at the end of the season and signed for the Philadelphia Eagles the next year. Crews has no recorded stats with the Eagles, as he never carved out a niche for himself in Philly.

Why did Terry Crews leave the NFL?

Terry Crews left the NFL, as he never genuinely found a stable role in the league. The NFL is very competitive, and the best players compete there.

As such, even the so-called generational talents tend to flop in the big leagues. Terry Crews was a high school and college stud, but he wasn't good enough to cut it at the highest level. That's not a knock on the movie star, as he did spend more than half a decade in and around the league.

Crews is possibly the modern movie star with the most accomplished NFL career, as he did way better than wrestling stars Dwayne Johnson and Brock Lesnar. Crews even played in the inaugural season of NFL Europe for a while, appearing for Rhein Fire in one season.

He registered five sacks for the German franchise, which was a career-high for the former NFL linebacker. In a nutshell, Crews left the NFL to pursue greener pastures, and boy, was it the right decision!

Terry Crews' NFL Stats

Terry Crews played in 32 games for three NFL teams between 1991 and 1996. He put up a stat line of five tackles (two solo and three assisted). He was drafted out of Western Michigan University, where he helped them to a solid winning record.

Crews retired from the NFL in 1997 to pursue his numerous passions outside the gridiron. Two decades later, the former NFL linebacker is one of the most visible stars in Hollywood. His stellar acting CV includes but isn't limited to significant roles in Brooklyn Nine-Nine, The Expendables, and Everybody Hates Chris.
