“You need to change some things, Russ” – Shannon Sharpe claims Russell Wilson lacks ability to make teammates run through walls to win

Former Denver Broncos tight end Shannon Sharpe had some harsh words for quarterback Russell Wilson.

Russell Wilson didn't live up to the expectations that many had for him when he was traded from the Seattle Seahawks to the Denver Broncos. The 4-11 record just cost first-year head coach Nathaniel Hackett his job, and there will likely be additional moves that will be made after the conclusion of the season.

A two-time Super Bowl champion with the Denver Broncos, Shannon Sharpe said that, while he loves the Broncos and bleeds blue and orange, he is not happy with the current climate of the team, mostly caused by Wilson.

He said that the Broncos quarterback is unable to motivate his team like so many other greats at the position can do. He noted that Tom Brady, John Elway, Peyton Manning and others could all motivate their teams. He said that the Broncos players don't support Russ or show their confidence in his play.

"The one thing a quarterback has is that he can convince those guys to run through a wall for him. Tom Brady could do that. John Elway can do that. Peyton Manning, the greats can do that. Mahomes and Burrow and Allen. There's a reason. You can't go where your teammates speak so openly against you in one location."

He said that a lot of the quarterback's issues are self-inflicted and that he has work to do to try and convince his team that he can do better. He said that Wilson can play better and do things off the field that will convice his teammates that he wants them all to be successful.

"They don't rally around Russ. You need to change some things, Russ Bro. I want you to succeed because, if you succeed, the Broncos succeed. Bronco country's happy, I'm not happy. But, bruh, you played bad. And there are some things that you can do individually that's not football related. That might change the dynamic between you and your teammates."

Denver Broncos GM says QB Russell Wilson is 'fixable'

The Denver Broncos gave Russell Wilson a contract extension worth over $240 million before he even stepped onto the field for a regular season game. Now, after a lackluster 4-11 record with two games remaining, the team has decisions to make.

They have parted ways with Hackett. Now, they will apparently be evaluating the rest of their stafff over the next two weeks to make decisions about the direction they will go in.

“We saw flashes of Russ this year, but Russ even said he didn’t play up to his standards. You did see flashes, but he would be the first one to tell you that he didn’t play up to his standard, didn’t play up to our standard. He needs to be better,” George Paton said.

Broncos general manager George Paton put his confidence in quarterback Russell Wilson. He believes that Wilson, under a new head coach, will return to the style of play he demonstrated for many years with the Seahawks.

While many around the NFL world believe that Wilson has yet to be accountable for his actions, it appears that the Broncos front office is confident in his play and that he will work on his game this offseason.
