Packers' showdown vs Eagles the perfect arena for Aaron Rodgers to remind everyone why he's the reigning league MVP

Tennessee Titans v Green Bay Packers
Aaron Rodgers needs to step up against the Philadelphia Eagles

It is truly now or never for Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. The team enters Sunday's showdown against the Philadelphia Eagles with a 4-7 record, seeking a turnaround after a collapse following a 3-1 start.

The game is in primetime and that means he is in the spotlight once again. This is also the perfect opportunity to remind everyone why he is the two-time reigning NFL MVP.

There is no better place for the reigning MVP to prove himself than on the road, against arguably the NFL's best team - the Eagles.

Jalen Hurts is in the MVP conversation himself, and taking down Rodgers would be a potential changing of the guard in the NFC.

However, there is also the potential for Green Bay to turn its entire season around if their leader can play at his past MVP levels. He does have five touchdowns in the past two games, but only one win.

That win came against a tough Dallas Cowboys team, proving the talent and potential is still there.

Perhaps he needs some extra motivation to get back in gear. The season is pretty much on the line on Sunday, as a 4-8 start may be enough to officially call it a season.

Aaron Rodgers' future on the line also

Being eliminated from the playoffs so early may even mean Jordan Love gets a start or two near the end of the season, as everyone looks towards the future.

Rodgers playing at an MVP level for two straight seasons is why he remains in Green Bay. Love was drafted as the successor and everyone knew it. But the veteran made it impossible for Green Bay to move on, even if the relationship had been shattered beyond permanent repair.

Now all Packers fans are waiting for that MVP magic to return Sunday night against the Eagles. Rodgers returned on a massive three-year deal and the expectation was that the MVP play would continue.

Losing Davante Adams obviously hurt, and the signal-caller is also not getting any younger. But there is no time for excuses in the NFL.

Sunday's game may be a defining moment for Rodgers' future in Green Bay. A win means the focus remains on getting to the postseason. A loss, however, means the MVP magic is gone and it may be time to start planning for 2023.

Sunday's stage is a monumental one for the quarterback and his team. If past narratives hold, an upset is on the way and the Eagles fans in attendance will go home upset. Yet at some point, the magic will run out. Packers fans are just hoping that gets pushed back a bit.
