NFL Rumors: Several in league circle believe Tom Brady might have made decision about future with Buccaneers

Tom Brady briefly retired last offseason before returning to the NFL the following month. With his marriage on the rocks, many expect this to be his final year. With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers struggling, fans feel it wouldn't be worth it for the quarterback to play at the age of 46 next campaign.

However, according to Pro Football Talk's Mike Florio, many around the league think he will be playing next season. According to Florio, an unnamed source recently said:

“Everybody here knows Brady is one year at a time, but what you see every day is a guy who acts like he wants to keep playing. This is his team, and the team loves him. He’s heavily invested in many ways. It’s hard to imagine he’d find a better situation with another franchise. And he’s been playing great for three years.”

He is a free agent after this season and the oldest quarterback in the league by a wide margin. However, he's expected to play next season and remain an integral part of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Will other teams try to sign Tom Brady next year?

Even though he'll be 46 by the time he suits up for Week 1 next season, if he doesn't retire, the quarterback should have plenty of suitors. Much like the last time he entered free agency, teams will probably be lining up to sign him. The chance to get a Super Bowl victory, even if he's only around for a year or two, is too much to pass up.

Many expect Brady to re-sign with Tampa Bay, but there will almost certainly be a team that throws every dollar they have at him. Is his situation in Tampa good enough to pass that up? It's possible they will extend him before he reaches free agency, which renders all this moot. If that doesn't happen, though, expect a lot of interest from contending teams.

Between now and then, however, is the matter of the 2022 NFL season. If the Buccaneers manage to win the Super Bowl, the quarterback may want to retire at the top.
