The D.C. Defenders will have the opportunity to start a new era when they welcome the Seattle Sea Dragons to Audi Field for the final game of Week 1 of the 2019 XFL season after being one of the top teams in the league during the inaugural season in 2020.

The Sea Dragons, who played as the "Dragons" in 2020, have one of the greatest rosters in the XFL heading into this season. In addition to wide receiver Josh Gordon, the Sea Dragons also boast former Dallas Cowboys quarterback Ben DiNucci.

Gordon, a former Pro Bowler with the Browns, has 4,284 yards in the NFL but hasn't played as a receiver since 2019 due to personal and injury issues.

On the other side, the defense is commanded by quarterback Jordan Ta'amu, who played time for both the Houston Texans and the St. Louis BattleHawks during the 2020 XFL season.

D'Eriq King, a former quarterback for the University of Houston, will support him. Running back Ryquell Armstead, who appeared to be a rising star with the Jaguars when COVID-19 wrecked his career, is also a member of the Defenders.
