When does NFL free agency tampering period begin?

The NFL Free Agency is upon us as the fans get ready for an exciting time in the offseason. The phrase "tampering" is used to describe an event in which teams begin talks with players before they have completely entered the free-agency market, which is against NFL regulations.

The league does, however, provide teams with a short window of time before the start of free agency to speak with players whose contracts expire in March.

There will be a lot of stories from NFL insiders about agreements that have been completed but cannot yet be formally registered with the league during the period between the beginning of legal tampering and the opening of the free agency window.

The start of the free-agency period will coincide with the expiration of all 2022 player contracts on March 15 at 16:00 New York time, according to the league's official website.
