On Monday, the four candidates for the 2022 Heisman Trophy were announced. Caleb Williams of USC, CJ Stroud of Ohio State, Max Duggan of TCU, and Stetson Bennett of Georgia are the players vying for the most coveted annual award in college football. On Saturday, December 10, 2022, the next winner in college football will be revealed.

Three of the four quarterbacks announced will go head-to-head on December 31 in the College Football Playoff. They were revealed at the same time voting ended on Monday. 870 media members, every former winner who is still alive, and a collective fan vote constitute the total votes.

Since the group that contained Alabama's Tua Tagovailoa, Oklahoma's Kyler Murray, and Ohio State's Dwayne Haskins in 2018, this year's finalist quartet is the first all-quarterback bunch.

There are four final contenders this year for the fourth consecutive year. Four candidates have been formally invited to New York City each year for the ceremony weekend, as revealed in a 2021 announcement from the Heisman Trophy Trust.

In 1982, the trust formally started inviting winners to New York City. Since that practice started in 1982, 171 players have been invited to New York as contenders.

929 electors received ballots for the 2022 competition. This includes 870 media personalities, 58 former winners, and one ultimate fan vote sponsored by Nissan, the occasion's leading ally. All votes were delivered digitally to Deloitte's certified accountants.
