Where will Braelon Allen get drafted? Exploring Wisconsin RB's draft stock

Braelon Allen has been one of the most consistently productive running backs during his impressive college football career with the Wisconsin Badgers. Despite playing in the always challenging Big Ten Conference, he still excelled as one of the best rushers in the entire country.

In all three of his seasons with the Badgers, he served as the starting running back and led the team in rushing yards while being selected to the All-Conference team. He totaled more than 3,500 yards and scored 35 rushing touchdowns during his time in Wisconsin.

While Allen profiles as a potential starting running back, he still remains available entering Day 3 of the 2024 NFL Draft. This is partially due to his position being devalued in recent years, as just three running backs were taken in the first three rounds.

Many draft experts have predicted that Braelon Allen will be a mid-round pick and among the top ten running backs taken in the 2024 NFL Draft. If those projections are accurate, he could be one of the earlier names called on Day 3, with Round 4 getting ready to kickoff.

Several teams appear to be in need of backfield help and this is the most popular time to draft them.

One of the most obvious landing spots for the best remaining running back prospects is the Dallas Cowboys. They parted ways with Ezekiel Elliot and Tony Pollard across the past two years, leaving Rico Dowdle on top of their depth chart.

It's hard to imagine they enter the 2024 NFL season without finding an upgrade, so Allen makes sense as an early target on Day 3.

The New York Giants could be another team looking for running back help after moving on from Saquon Barkley during the offseason. While they added Devin Singletary, they may want to improve their depth.

The Cincinnati Bengals also make sense as a potential destination after losing Joe Mixon this year and declining to add a significant replacement in free agency.

While the value of running backs has declined in the NFL, a strong rushing game can still be extremely valuable. Just as recently as last season, three of the four teams in the conference championship games ranked among the top ten in total rushing.

This makes Braelon Allen an excellent late-round target, as he comes with plenty of upside to help improve just about any team's ground game.
