The Goodell family was present for the Buffalo Bills' game against the New England Patriots in Week 18. The game represents some sort of normalcy following one of the most disturbing weeks in the history of the franchise. Damar Hamlin's collapse during Monday Night Football against the Cincinnati Bengals scared players and fans all over the world, but thankfully, the player survived.

To congratulate the first responders and the medical team that saved Hamlin's life, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was present with his family in Buffalo. They took part in tributes for the player as Hamlin watched the game from the hospital.

Let's take a deeper look into who the commissioner's wife is and understand why she's used to being in the spotlight.

Roger Goodell's wife: meet Jane

The wife of NFL commissioner Roger Goodell is a former daytime news anchor for Fox News, co-hosting Happening Now from 11 AM to 1 PM ET with Jon Scott.

Jane was born and raised in Illinois. Her father, Sam Skinner, is a former White House Chief of Staff under George Bush's administration. He also worked as the Secretary of Transportation.

Jane had a long career as a news anchor and political correspondent. She started her journalism career with KBJR before moving on to Fox News as a general reporter. She later became a host for programs such as Skinnerville and Sunday Best.

Jane decided to retire on-air on June 24, 2010, citing a desire to spend more time with her family. Since then, she's been traveling with her husband for most of his NFL commitments.

When did Jane and Roger Goodell get married?

The pair decided to join forces back in 1997, nine years before he became the NFL commissioner. Their twin daughters were born in 2001.

The family currently lives in Westchester, close to the NFL's offices in New York.

Both Roger and Jane's fathers have a history in politics, although neither of their kids wanted to go down that route. Roger worked with the NFL all his life and took the commissioner's job in 2006 after succeeding Paul Tagliabue.

Jane has always been interested in football. She won the 2017 Women of the Month award from Mid-Life Bachelor for her fight to bring equality to women.
