Week 9 of the UFL 2024 season is in the books. The two games on Sunday saw the D.C. Defenders cruise to a 36-21 win over the Memphis Showboats at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium, while the Michigan Panthers recorded a 26-22 victory against the Houston Roughnecks at TDECU Stadium.

The D.C. Defenders moved to 4-5 with their win against Memphis in Week 9. D.C. quarterback Jordan Ta’amu grabbed the headlines, as he threw for 237 yards and two touchdowns on 20 passes. Defensive back Montae Nicholson finished with seven tackles, one pass breakup, and an interception.

For Memphis, running back Darius Victor recorded 14 carries for 98 yards, and a touchdown. The Defenders remain third in the UFL and will not qualify for the playoffs. Nonetheless, D.C. will want to end the season on a high.

Meanwhile, the Showboats have been on an eight-game losing streak since their only win in Week 1. They too, are out of the playoff hunt.

The Michigan Panthers produced a stunning comeback against the Houston Roughnecks in the fourth quarter to improve to 7-2.

Quarterback Danny Etling played the first half and threw for 110 yards on 12 passes for Michigan. He was replaced by Bryce Perkins, who played the second half and completed 121 yards on 12 passes and a touchdown, while also leading the team with 79 rushing yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

For Houston, Nolan Henderson completed seven of 18 passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns. The Roughnecks have managed just one win this season, while the Panthers have qualified for the playoffs.
