Why is Donald Trump beefing with Rihanna over Super Bowl halftime show?

Rihanna performed at the Super Bowl halftime show and much of the world enjoyed her performance. That does not include former President Donald Trump.

Trump sent out a statement on Truth Social, a Twitter-like social media site, saying the show was a complete failure:

"EPIC FAIL: Rihanna gave, without question, the single worst Halftime Show in Super Bowl history — This after insulting far more than half of our Nation, which is already in serious DECLINE, with her foul and insulting language. Also, so much for her ‘Stylist!'”

Two days prior to the game, Trump also said:

“Without her ‘Stylist’ she’d be NOTHING. Bad everything, and NO TALENT!”

This all stems from when Trump was president. He was a divisive president and the singer wasn't a fan. She tweeted after Trump instituted what was referred to as a "Muslim ban" in the United States.

She said:

“Disgusted! The news is devastating! America is being ruined right before our eyes! What an immoral pig you have to be to implement such BS!”

It's safe to say that the singer wasn't fond of Trump or his decisions while in office.

Rihanna and Donald Trump's beef: Explained

She also called out Trump many other times and even sued him to prevent him from being able to play any of her songs at his rallies. The feud goes back well beyond the Super Bowl halftime show.

Trump doesn't like it when people don't like him, and she was one of the more vocal detractors to his presidency. He also holds grudges as he's obviously still unhappy about it almost six years later.

Trump has also never been shy about calling people out and insulting them, especially on social media, so it's no surprise he took to the internet to let his followers know how much he disliked the NFL's choice for Super Bowl artist.

Another conservative politician, Texas representative Jonny Jackson, said:

“Why is the NFL showcasing this crap? Rihanna SHOULD NOT be the halftime performer!!”

The artist has never been shy about her political views, nor has the former president. That has put them at odds and nothing could have convinced Trump that she performed well during the halftime show.
