NFL 2020: Power Rankings Week 4

Las Vegas Raiders v New England Patriots
Las Vegas Raiders v New England Patriots

Week 3 has passed in the NFL 2020 season and we saw several shocking results but as well as interesting moves made by some teams. A few surprises in terms of the power rankings have occurred, which includes the Philadelphia Eagles dipping down several spots and the Buffalo Bills jumping up. Week 4 will bring us some good games to determine truly how good some teams are.

With that being said, let's take a look at the Power Rankings coming into Week 4.

#32 New York Giants

San Francisco 49ers v New York Giants
San Francisco 49ers v New York Giants

Against what seemed like a San Francisco 49ers team that was playing many second-string players, Giants' quarterback Daniel Jones threw for just 179 yards and 1 interception. Jones has now gone two weeks without throwing a touchdown. Is it time for the fans to panick or is Barkely's absence hurting them already?

#31 New York Jets

New York Jets v Indianapolis Colts
New York Jets v Indianapolis Colts

Lets face it, New York Jets' head coach Adam Gase is wasting quarterback Sam Darnold's career and has to go. With the Jets missing several offense starters on Sunday, it was almost certain that the Colts will win the game in easy fashion. If the Jets organization thinks moving on from Darnold will solve their problem, then fans are in for many unfortunate seasons.

#30 Philadelphia Eagles

Cincinnati Bengals v Philadelphia Eagles
Cincinnati Bengals v Philadelphia Eagles

What is happening with the 2018 Superbowl Champions this season? Once ranked in the top 10 before the season started, the Eagles are now 0-2-1 (should have been 0-3). Quarterback Carson Wentz does not look like the star QB that he once was.

Against the Bengals, the defense struggled to contain rookie QB Joe Burrow, who threw 2 touchdowns and no picks against the "no flyzone" secondary. It is panic time for the Eagles organization. Could we see Wentz benched soon for rookie Jalen Hurts?

#29 Cincinnati Bengals

Cincinnati Bengals v Philadelphia Eagles
Cincinnati Bengals v Philadelphia Eagles

While he wasn't able to deliver the Bengals their first win in overtime, quarterback Joe Burrow looked great against the Eagles on Sunday. The issue right now is getting the run game going with Joe Mixon, who signed a four-year, $48 million extension prior to the season beginning. The offensive line needs to do a better job of helping Mixon and Burrow, as he was sacked 8 times by the Eagles' deadly defensive line on Sunday.

#28 Denver Broncos

Tampa Bay Buccaneers v Denver Broncos
Tampa Bay Buccaneers v Denver Broncos

With up-and-coming quarterback Drew Lock on the sideline for sometime and with the Broncos missing several key players from previous weeks, its no surprise to see them rank so low. Head coach Vic Fangio has stated that QB Brett Rypien will take the start against the Jets in Week 4, which should be an interesting game considering how banged up both teams are. Let us hope for Lock to return soon and turn things around for the offense.

#27 Minnesota Vikings

Tennessee Titans v Minnesota Vikings
Tennessee Titans v Minnesota Vikings

After leading 17-9 at the half against the Tennessee Titans, the Minnesota Vikings scored just 13 points in the second half and allowed the Titans to score 22 points and win the game. At 0-3, it is certainly shocking for a team that went 10-6 last season and went all the way to the divisional playoffs. Things are not looking good for the team, both offensively and defensively, which is somewhat surprising for the Mike Zimmer coached side

#26 Atlanta Falcons

Chicago Bears v Atlanta Falcons
Chicago Bears v Atlanta Falcons

To all the Falcons' fans, my condolences are with you. After leading in all 3 games so far this season, the Falcons have choked in all 3 games. They could have been 3-0 and shocked the league. Head coach Dan Quinn is certainly on the hot seat after a lack of production late in the game and considering they will be up against the Green Bay Packers in primetime, things are not looking good for the team.

#25 Washington Football Team

Washington Football Team v Cleveland Browns
Washington Football Team v Cleveland Browns

Dwayne Haskins needs to improve in the next few weeks, otherwise his time might be up as a starter for the team. After throwing 3 picks against the Cleveland Browns, head coach Ron Rivera stated himself that he will be pulled out at a certain point in order to benefit Haskins and the team. The defense continues to perform well, even with rookie Chase Young exiting early against the Browns.

#24 Houston Texans

Baltimore Ravens v Houston Texans
Baltimore Ravens v Houston Texans

After failing to sign All-Pro safety Earl Thomas because of a supposed "poor fit", the Texans are in trouble and most of the blame needs to be shouldered by head coach/general manager Bill O'Brien.

With QB Deshaun Watson having little to no help around him and the defense (aside from J.J. Watt) being very average, will the Texans be able to turn things around or could they miss the playoffs this season?

#23 Jacksonville Jaguars

Miami Dolphins v Jacksonville Jaguars
Miami Dolphins v Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jaguars seemed like a fun offense to watch when they beat the Colts in Week 1. However, they were run over by the Miami Dolphins in week 3. A close game against the Titans still showed hope for the offense, but losing 31-13 to the Dolphins led by Ryan Fitzpatrick was not at all a good result. Hopefully the team can turn things around against the Bengals.

#22 Detroit Lions

Detroit Lions v Arizona Cardinals
Detroit Lions v Arizona Cardinals

The Lions shocked the league with a win over the red hot Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. If the Lions had completed their comeback against the Bears in Week 1, they would be 2-1 right now and would be second in the NFC North division.

Matthew Stafford is looking good after missing half of the 2019 season and hopes to continue performing this way. Head coach Matt Patricia is still certainly on the hot seat for this season, but we will see how well they can do in the coming weeks.

#21 Miami Dolphins

Miami Dolphins v Jacksonville Jaguars
Miami Dolphins v Jacksonville Jaguars

After picking up their first win against the Lions, the Dolphins will be playing the 3-0 Seattle Seahawks, who have been lucky to win a few of their games. After throwing 3 picks in the first game against the New England Patriots, QB Ryan Fitzpatrick has bounced back and has been playing well. The question still stands though - When will he be replaced by rookie Tua Tagovailoa?

#20 Los Angeles Chargers

Carolina Panthers v Los Angeles Chargers
Carolina Panthers v Los Angeles Chargers

Rookie Justin Herbert is looking great so far and his future looks bright, throwing for 330 yards with 1 touchdown and a pick in a loss against the Carolina Panthers. Chargers have one of the best defenses in the league and they do not look like slowing down anytime soon.

However, they did place cornerback Chris Harris Jr. on IR due to a foot injury. Herbert has the necessary weapons to support his growth with the team, but the question is will head coach Anthony Lynn replace Herbert with Tyrod Taylor as the starter once he has recovered?

#19 Carolina Panthers

Carolina Panthers v Los Angeles Chargers
Carolina Panthers v Los Angeles Chargers

New head coach Matt Rhuler finally got his first win in the NFL against one of the toughest defenses (Chargers) in the league. After losing to the Buccaneers and the Raiders, a win was certainly needed for the team.

They have lost All-Pro running back Christian McCaffrey for atleast a few games, which will severely hurt the offense for some time. Teddy Bridgewater is playing just fine, but it is still questionable whether he is the best suited QB for the next few years. The defense continues to improve week by week.

#18 Indianapolis Colts

New York Jets v Indianapolis Colts
New York Jets v Indianapolis Colts

Philip Rivers and company rolled through the New York Jets like they were a little league football team. While the team has been dealing with a few injuries, nothing seems to be slowing them down right now.

Rivers and the offense looks good, and the young but capable defense is doing good as well. This team could be a darkhorse this season and teams should watch out for the Colts.

#17 Cleveland Browns

Washington Football Team v Cleveland Browns
Washington Football Team v Cleveland Browns

The Browns are, well, the Browns. They arecurrently 2-1 thanks to beating the Cincinnati Bengals (0-2-1) and the Washington Football Team (1-2). They were run over by the Baltimore Ravens in Week 1, but the real test for Baker Mayfield and company comes this week against the Dallas Cowboys, who are coming off two high-scoring games and an unfortunate loss to the Seahawks in Week 3.

#16 Dallas Cowboys

Dallas Cowboys v Seattle Seahawks
Dallas Cowboys v Seattle Seahawks

After what seemed to be a rough start, the Cowboys are now 1-2. The offense seems to be going well, but the defense needs to be fixed if they want to win some games.

The addition of rookie receiver CeeDee Lamb has dramatically helped the offense alongside Amari Cooper and Ezekiel Elliot. They play the Browns in Week 4, which should be a good test to see whether the team is going in the right or wrong direction.

#15 New Orleans Saints

New Orleans Saints v Las Vegas Raiders
New Orleans Saints v Las Vegas Raiders

No one is sure about what's happening in New Orleans. After taking down Tom Brady and the Buccaneers, the Saints have lost two straight games against the Raiders and the Packers.

Although they have lost one of the best receivers in Michael Thomas for a few games, quarterback Drew Brees still has a good supporting cast around him. Considering the big names on the defensive side of the ball, they are struggling. Saints will look to turn it around against the Lions in week 4.

#14 Las Vegas Raiders

New Orleans Saints v Las Vegas Raiders
New Orleans Saints v Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders have been surprisingly good so far this season. In what seemed to be a "make or break" season for Derek Carr, the QB has been playing well so far, totaling 784 passing yards with 6 touchdowns and no picks.

Currently sitting at 2-1, is the name change and new stadium giving the team some new found luck? The Raiders have a tough matchup against the Bills coming this week, which will be a game certainly to tune into on your screens.

#13 Los Angeles Rams

Los Angeles Rams v Buffalo Bills
Los Angeles Rams v Buffalo Bills

The Rams are a solid team, beating what seemed to be a top 5 Cowboys and Eagles defense in the first two weeks. After an incredible comeback, an unfortunate PI call late in the game against the Bills cost them the game and they could have been 3-0 coming into Week 4. They face the 0-3 Giants this week, which shouldn't be a problem for the team at all.

#12 Chicago Bears

Chicago Bears v Atlanta Falcons
Chicago Bears v Atlanta Falcons

The Chicago Bears have been nothing but miraculous so far and are somehow 3-0 currently. With QB Mitchell Trubisky being benched for the 'lord and saviour' Nick Foles, the Bears could be a threat in the NFC, assuming Foles continues to play the way he did against the Falcons.

We all know how he saved the Eagles season and won them their first Superbowl. Could it be done again?

#11 Pittsburgh Steelers

Pittsburgh Steelers v New York Giants
Pittsburgh Steelers v New York Giants

The Steelers were almost defeated by the Texans, hadn't it been for the playcalling by Texans' head coach Bill O'Brien. While they are 3-0, they have yet to play a meaningful team.

They play the Titans this coming Sunday, but could be pushed back to Monday due to some Titans players being tested positive for the COVID-19 virus.

#10 San Francisco 49ers

San Francisco 49ers v New York Giants
San Francisco 49ers v New York Giants

The 49ers are without Jimmy Garappolo, Nick Bosa, Richard Sherman, and many more of their starters, yet they were able to win 36-9 against the New York Giants.

Not only does it show that the 49ers have some incredible squad depth, but it also shows that the coaching staff was able to adapt to the changes quickly. Hopefully the team can keep this going for a few more games. They face the 0-2-1 Eagles this week.

#9 Arizona Cardinals

Detroit Lions v Arizona Cardinals
Detroit Lions v Arizona Cardinals

Cardinals have recovered after losing at home against the Lions. Kyler Murray and company are still a threat in the NFC West, currently sitting 2nd in the division. The combination of Murray and Hopkins has been an extremely pressing issue for opposing teams so far.

#8 Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay Buccaneers v Denver Broncos
Tampa Bay Buccaneers v Denver Broncos

Tom Brady doesn't age does he? The offense and defense finally played the way they looked on paper against the Denver Broncos.

They will be tested though against an even better defense in Week 4 against the Chargers, a team that Brady was rumored to be joining this offseason before signing with the Bucs.

#7 New England Patriots

Las Vegas Raiders v New England Patriots
Las Vegas Raiders v New England Patriots

Signing Cam Newton was probably the best decision made by head coach Bill Belichick. This is a comeback year for Newton and he continues to show teams why passing up on him was a bad idea.

He certainly has plenty of fuel left in his tank and with the support around him, the Patriots will do just fine. But, they have a real test this week, facing the reigning Superbowl champions, Chiefs.

#6 Tennessee Titans

Tennessee Titans v Minnesota Vikings
Tennessee Titans v Minnesota Vikings

After trailing through the half against the Vikings, the Titans came back to win 31-30 in amazing fashion. While the defense needs to improve, making the decision to extend Ryan Tannehill was a good move by the organization.

They have been hit with 3 players testing postive for COVID-19, 2 of whom are starters. Assuming all is well with other players, this should be a good game against the Steelers.

#5 Buffalo Bills

Los Angeles Rams v Buffalo Bills
Los Angeles Rams v Buffalo Bills

Josh Allen is legit. Simple as that. The Bills are the single biggest threat to the New England Patriots in the AFC East. It's a matter of fixing some issues on the defense before they become a dual threat in the league. The Bills face the Raiders this week, who are looking strong as well.

#4 Seattle Seahawks

Dallas Cowboys v Seattle Seahawks
Dallas Cowboys v Seattle Seahawks

Is it harsh to say that the Seahawks are lucky? The defense has given up too many points, relying on Russell Wilson to bail them out.

Nonetheless, Wilson is certainly looking like an MVP quarterback right now. The Seahawks face the Miami Dolphins in week 4, which shouldn't be a difficult task for the team.

#3 Baltimore Ravens

Kansas City Chiefs v Baltimore Ravens
Kansas City Chiefs v Baltimore Ravens

The Ravens faced a tough matchup against the Chiefs, where Lamar Jackson ran the show (literally). It'll take more than just running the ball for the Ravens to stay alive, Jackson needs to throw much more. The Ravens face the Washington Football Team in week 4, which should be an easy win for the team.

#2 Green Bay Packers

Green Bay Packers v New Orleans Saints
Green Bay Packers v New Orleans Saints

Aaron Rodgers is the same quarterback we all know - elite and reliable. He hasn't changed at all. In fact, we might be seeing a slightly better Rodgers this season.

Is this thanks to the team drafting rookie QB Jordan Love in the first round? Who knows, but the Packers will look to continue their good form against the Falcons on Monday night.

#1 Kansas City Chiefs

Kansas City Chiefs v Baltimore Ravens
Kansas City Chiefs v Baltimore Ravens

Without a doubt, the Chiefs are number 1 in the league and will most likely stay this way all throughout the season.

With a mastermind head coach in Andy Reid, a superstar quarterback in Patrick Mahomes with his supporting cast, and a top tier defense, it will take a lot to take this team down. They face a rather familiar team on Sunday, as the Patriots will travel to Arrowhead in what should be the best game of week 4.
