Is it possible to solo defeat Moltres in Pokemon GO as the creature returns to Niantic's mobile game as a 5-star raid boss? While it is better to challenge these raids as a group, it is possible to solo defeat Moltres in Pokemon GO 5-star raids—provided you have the appropriate counters and suitable weather.

Moltres made its debut on July 31, 2017, and has appeared as a raid boss several times since. Its shiny form has been available since September 2018. If you don't have access to the creature yet, you can find them by taking over Gyms from 10 am local time on August 3, 2024, to 10 am local time on August 12, 2024.

This article covers Pocket Monsters with appropriate movesets as well as other conditions that must be fulfilled to solo defeat Moltres in Pokemon GO.

How to solo defeat Moltres in Pokemon GO

Before getting into the intricacies of taking down Moltres on your own, check out the raid boss' stats and potential moveset:

  • Type: Fire and Flying
  • Combat Power: 45,609
  • Attack: 251
  • Defense: 181
  • Stamina: 15,000 HP
  • Fast Attacks: Fire Spin and Wing Attack
  • Charged Attacks: Ancient Power, Fire Blast, Heat Wave, and Overheat
  • Weaknesses: Rock, Electric, and Water

You get 300 seconds to take down Moltres on your own. While a lot of critters can do well against the Fire-type Legendary Bird, not all can take it down before the timer runs out.

The following are the creatures along with their recommended movesets that can solo defeat Moltres in Pokemon GO when the weather is Partly Cloudy on their own with a few re-lobbies:

  • Shadow Rampardos with Smack Down and Rock Slide
  • Mega Diancie with Rock Throw and Rock Slide
  • Shadow Rhyperior with Smack Down and Rock Wrecker
  • Mega Tyranitar with Smack Down and Stone Edge
  • Mega Aerodactyl with Rock Throw and Rock Slide

While the first three can do so with more than 25 seconds remaining, Mega Tyrantitar and Mega Aerodactyl strategies come down to the wire and may fail because of internet or application fluctuations.

Tips and tricks to solo defeat Moltres in Pokemon GO:

  • Each of these counters must be maxed out using Candy XL.
  • You must carry Max Revives to bring back your choice of attacker to full health without wasting time.
  • Dodge Charged Attacks as much as possible.
