Are Max Mushrooms in Pokemon GO worth using?

At the outset, the damage bonus granted by Max Mushrooms seems like a promising possibility, especially when challenging more powerful Power Spot bosses. It might make the mechanic more accessible to players in less populated servers by allowing them to take down these bosses with smaller groups.

However, when considering the price of these items—expected to cost 400 PokeCoins apiece—the accessibility aspect seems much less attractive. While microtransactions form a major part of Pokemon GO, and several players willingly spend money on it, locking an item like Max Mushroom behind such a tall paywall seems unfair.

This is more so because Max Mushrooms in Pokemon GO will serve no purpose other than increasing the damage output from Fast, Charged, and Max Move attacks. If these items could be used to turn previously caught 'mons into ones that can Dynamax, the hefty price tag could potentially be justified.
