Luis Arráez is a Venezuelan professional baseball infielder for the San Diego Padres of MLB. Arráez signed as an international free agent with the Minnesota Twins in 2013 and made his MLB debut with them in 2019. Due to Luis’s striking powers, he was given the nickname “La Regadera,” which means The Sprinkler in Spanish. In 2023, he tied an MLB record for most 5-hit games in a single month and earned his All-Star selection. In International competitions, he represents the Venezuelan national team.
In an 8-4 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies on April 11, 2023, Arráez became the first player in Marlins history to bat for the cycle. On June 6, later in the season, Arráez went 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI, making history by becoming the first player to have at least 62 team games with at least .400 at-bats. That streak, however, only lasted four days. Arráez was the MLB batting champion in 2022 and 2023. He also won the Silver Slugger Award in 2022 and 2023.
