McIntyre has finally gotten the monster push he deserves

At the peak of the Attitude Era, Vince McMahon was hell-bent on destroying his competition and was doing the best work of his career. The WWE Universe got to witness some of the best storylines in the history of professional wrestling, thanks to the stiff competition between the two promotions.

Things didn't stay the same after WWE bought off WCW in March 2001. With no actual competition around, WWE was free to tone down their product and not care about fans going for something else.

Almost 2 decades later, we're at a point where WWE sometimes panders to the crowd and gives them exactly what they want. But this isn't always the case. Let's take a look at 3 signs WWE is listening to the fans, and 2 signs that they're not.

3 signs WWE is listening to the fans

#3 McIntyre gets a marquee match at 'Mania

It's about time!
It's about time!

Ever since Drew McIntyre came up to the main roster, WWE hasn't handled him the way they should have. First, he became a sidekick to Dolph Ziggler and spent months with him, before turning on Ziggler and going his own way.

Post his feud with Ziggler, McIntyre became a part of a dastardly trio, which also consisted of Baron Corbin and Bobby Lashley. The three villains spent months on end attacking Braun Strowman with no payoff in sight. Finally, The Shield put them down at Fastlane 2019, following which McIntyre began targeting The Hounds of Justice.

Now, The Scottish Psychopath is all set to battle Roman Reigns in a marquee match at The Grandest Stage Of Them All. Fans have been clamoring for a monster push for the behemoth for a long time, and it seems like we're finally getting one. A win over Reigns would do wonders for his career, shooting him up to the title picture on Raw.

#2 Becky is in the main event of 'Mania

Originally, the plans for the main event of WrestleMania 35 involved two women: Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey. The buildup for the match kicked off last year at WrestleMania 34 when Charlotte broke Asuka's streak and retained her title. Rousey impressed the WWE Universe in her debut match on the same night.

Becky Lynch turned on Charlotte at SummerSlam 2018, resulting in fans getting behind her like never before. By the time Survivor Series rolled around, Becky had become one of the most popular Superstars on both rosters.

WWE listened to what the WWE Universe demanded, and thrust Lynch into the title picture immediately. She came in as a replacement for Lana in the Royal Rumble match and ended up winning the whole thing. "The Man" is all set to become one of the first three women to compete in the main event of WrestleMania.

#1 The birth of KofiMania

Kofi has come a long way

2 months ago, Kofi Kingston was nowhere near the WWE Title picture. The go home show of SmackDown Live before the Elimination Chamber PPV saw Kofi Kingston give the performance of a lifetime, lasting over an hour in the Gauntlet match. Kofi had come in as a replacement for Ali and ran with the opportunity.

The fans rallied behind the high-flyer in droves, resulting in the birth of a new movement called KofiMania, which was similar to Daniel Bryan's Yes Movement 5 years back. This time, Kofi took on the role of Bryan's underdog while Bryan became The Authority, calling him a B+ player on multiple occasions.

Despite Mr. McMahon's consistent attempts to make sure that Kofi remained far away from the WWE Title picture, he prevailed and is all set to face Bryan at WrestleMania 35 for the WWE Title. KofiMania proved that if the fans support a Superstar enough, WWE will listen to them and shoot the Superstar up for a mega push.

#2 Asuka's downfall

The Empress of Tomorrow was on top of the wrestling world last year when she won the first-ever Women's Royal Rumble match. Her 6+ year streak came to an end at WrestleMania 34 when Charlotte tapped her out in the middle of the ring.

This kicked off her downfall, with the likes of Carmella beating the former undefeated Superstar. When Asuka won the SmackDown Women's Title at TLC, it seemed as if another push was on the horizon. This didn't happen though, as she disappeared from WWE TV for a while before being pinned by Mandy Rose on an episode of SmackDown Live.

Last week, Charlotte and Asuka faced off in a match that was scheduled at the last minute. "The Queen" ended up winning the Women's Title and Asuka's WrestleMania dreams came crumbling down.

Fans flocked on social media and blasted WWE for its treatment of Asuka, but nothing came of it and she is all set to compete in the WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal this year.

#1 Angle's underwhelming retirement match

The match no one wants
The match no one wants

Ever since Kurt Angle announced that he was retiring at WrestleMania, fans began speculating on the possibility of him wrestling John Cena in his last match, bringing their 17-year old rivalry full circle.

WWE had other plans though. When Angle announced Baron Corbin as his opponent at 'Mania, the fans weren't thrilled one bit.

Baron Corbin has consistently been one of the most hated guys on the Raw roster, and not in a way WWE expects the fans to react to him. They genuinely loathe the character and simply don't want to see him on-screen. This didn't stop WWE from confirming the match at 'Mania. Even Angle's wife voiced her displeasure about this announcement, but deleted the tweet and posted an update moments later.

Baron Corbin will be Angle's opponent in his final match, and there's nothing the fans can do to stop this travesty from happening.
