Asuka is the first female Japanese wrestler to make a deal as an employee of the WWE in over twenty years. She is the ongoing WWE Women's Title holder which she won as Raw Women's Championship and later WWE renamed the title. She worked under different wrestling promotions prior to making it to the WWE like Pro Wrestling Wave (2008, 2010–2015), Japanese free circuits like Smash (2010–2012), and American independent circuits like Wrestling New Classic (2012), Reina Joshi Puroresu (2014–2015). Asuka is the winner of the NXT Women's Championship, WWE Women's Tag Team Championship, and WWE SmackDown Women's Championship.
