Axiom (birth name: Carlos Ruiz), the professional grappler hails from Spain and is most popular by his in-ring name A-Kid. After making an impact on the NXT brand, Axiom is now a part of the current SmackDown main roster. Axiom also made his name in the European and American free circuits most notably for Chikara, White Wolf Wrestling (Triple W), Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG), Defiant Wrestling, and Progress Wrestling.

During his NXT UK career Axiom won the NXT UK Heritage Cup Inaugural Tournament in 2020 and the inaugural NXT UK Heritage Cup (1 time). In 2018, Axiom became the youngest-ever grappler from Spain to get a 5-star rating from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter's Dave Meltzer in a singles match at 20 years of age. Axiom was accounted for as having completed official desk work for the NXT UK brand. He faced Kassius Ohno in his debut singles match and beat his opponent. Axiom became the first-ever NXT UK Legacy Cup winner after beating Trent Seven in the finals of a rivalry. He faced Tyler Bate for the Legacy Cup but eventually lost. He confronted Ilja Dragunov for the NXT UK Title yet was defeated.

Axiom was rebranded as a masked superhero grappler when he was moved to the NXT brand. He made his very first appearance in the brand by conquering Dante Chen. He then partook in a best-of-three-match series against Nathan Frazer. He overwhelmed the first game anyway and lost the second and the third match. Axiom couldn't win the Iron Survivor Challenge at the NXT Deadline event.

Axiom started a rivalry with Carmelo Hayes as per the storyline and lost against him. Yet, he proceeded to overcome Trick Williams in NXT. Axiom failed to bring back the NXT North American Title at NXT Stand and Deliver. He lost again against Wes Lee in the following episode of NXT. He started a conflict according to a storyline with Scrypts and beat him. Axiom and Scrypts began collaborating after some time when the latter turned into a face character. Scrypts eventually turned on Axiom. The latter began teaming up with Nathan Frazer and then went on to win the NXT Tag Team Championship with him.
