Cody Garrett Runnels Rhodes is an American professional wrestler, signed to WWE as of January 2025. Rhodes, a second-generation wrestler, is the son of Dusty Rhodes and is the half-brother of Dustin Rhodes. Born in June 1985, he joined the WWE's developmental territory in 2006 and made his way up to the company's main roster the following year. Almost two decades later, Rhodes is a WWE World Champion and a Triple Crown Champion. He is also known for his three-year stint with All Elite Wrestling, a promotion he had a role in establishing and where he also filled in as an Executive Vice President.

Cody Rhodes' wrestling career

Cody Rhodes' first tenure with the WWE lasted from 2006 to 2016. Rhodes additionally wrestled for TNA, NJPW, and ROH. He started his wrestling career with two Georgia state titles in amateur wrestling before joining WWE in 2006. Rhodes began in Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW), where he won the Triple Crown Champion status while becoming a two-time Intercontinental titleholder and an eight-time World Tag Team Champion in WWE.

In TNA, Rhodes wrestled independently and showed up as Cody. He performed in grand events like WrestleMania, Wrestle Kingdom in NJPW, and Final Battle in ROH. The Georgia native is a one-time ROH Title holder in ROH and later secured the IWGP US Heavyweight Title and the ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Title. He also brought home the NWA World Heavyweight Title, emulating his father's accomplishment.

In AEW, Rhodes became the first AEW TNT Champion. After returning to WWE at WrestleMania 38, he defeated Seth Rollins and won both the 2023 and 2024 men's Royal Rumble matches, becoming the only consecutive winner since Stone Cold Steve Austin. Rhodes won the WWE Universal Title at WrestleMania XL after beating 1316 days titleholder Roman Reigns, becoming the 34th WWE Triple Crown Champion.
