He made his WWE television debut in 2011 under the name Jinder Mahal and introduced himself as Khali’s Brother in Law (Kayfabe), who married Khali’s sister. Khali had a jobber run in WWE during the first run and was a member of 3MB with Heath Slater and Drew McIntyre. He was released from contract in 2014 and returned to Independent Circuits. In 2016, Mahal returned to WWE with a much improved physique and transformed himself into one of the top card wrestlers. He was escorted by The Bollywood Boyz, with the help of them he won his first World Championship by winning the WWE Championship. He defended his championship against some of the former world champions and dropped it to AJ Styles after 170 days. After dropping the WWE Championship, Mahal won the United States Championship, but lost after just 8 days.
