Batista and John Cena's rivalry was interesting for more reasons than one. As highlighted in their WrestleMania 26 program, the two superstars won their first world championships at WrestleMania 21 and had a very parallel rise to the top. It was just that WWE chose Cena as the face of the franchise over Batista. However, the two had incredible chemistry and are perhaps the two biggest names to come out of the Ruthless Aggression Era.
The first bout between the two saw John Cena's neck snap at the hands of The Animal. The two would feud two years afterwards, with Cena sending Batista packing out of WWE. It's a real shame that Batista left when he did, because his heel persona in 2010 was perhaps the best reinvention of himself. Many have compared Batista's 2010 persona to that of 2003 Hollywood Rock. And just like Hollywood Rock, he didn't stick around long enough to capitalize on his character.

The departure of Batista saw The Animal have legitimate frustration with the company, as he broke his back in the "I Quit" match. Unfortunately, The Animal didn't leave on the best terms at the time.
