SummerSlam 2008

Earlier in their rivalry, Cena faced Batista at SummerSlam in August 2008. This singles match was important for both wrestlers as it was one of their first major encounters on a grand stage. Batista won this match, marking an important moment in their rivalry.

Elimination Chamber 2010

In February 2010, at Elimination Chamber, Cena competed in the eponymous structure where he defended his WWE Championship against multiple opponents. After a tough battle, he finally won the match but was interrupted by Vince McMahon who forced Cena to defend his title against Batista in a singles match. The Animal was too much for a tired Cena to handle, and Batista scored yet another victory over Cena.

WrestleMania 26

At WrestleMania 26 in March 2010, John Cena faced Batista for the WWE Championship in a highly anticipated match. Cena won decisively, finally scoring a victory over The Animal at the Premium Live Event. This victory continued to build Cena's legacy as one of WWE's top stars while furthering the narrative of their rivalry.

Extreme Rules 2010

Cena and Batista clashed at Extreme Rules in April 2010, in a Last Man Standing match for the WWE Championship. This match is known for its extreme stipulations, allowing for no disqualifications and requiring one competitor to incapacitate the other for a ten-count. Cena retained his title by duct-taping Batista's feet to the ring post.

Over The Limit 2010

In the main event at Over the Limit in May 2010, John Cena defended his WWE Championship against Batista in an "I Quit" match. Both competitors fought intensely throughout the arena. Ultimately, Cena emerged victorious after forcing Batista to utter "I quit".

John Cena vs Batista Feud History

Batista and John Cena's rivalry was interesting for more reasons than one. As highlighted in their WrestleMania 26 program, the two superstars won their first world championships at WrestleMania 21 and had a very parallel rise to the top. It was just that WWE chose Cena as the face of the franchise over Batista. However, the two had incredible chemistry and are perhaps the two biggest names to come out of the Ruthless Aggression Era. The first bout between the two saw John Cena's neck snap at the hands of The Animal. The two would feud two years afterward, with Cena sending Batista packing out of WWE.
