Bulgarian-American professional wrestler Miroslav Petrov Barnyashev was born on December 25, 1985. He was once the AEW TNT Champion and is presently signed to All Elite Wrestling (AEW), where he competes under the ring name Miro. In addition, he is well-known for his ten-year tenure in the WWE as Rusev, during which he became the first and, to date, the only Bulgarian wrestler to work for the company.

After agreeing to a deal with WWE in 2010, Barnyashev was sent to Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW), which changed its name to NXT in 2012. Up until 2014, when he and his manager Lana were brought up to the WWE main roster, he performed on NXT. He won the WWE United States Championship three times. After being let go by WWE in April 2020, he made his AEW debut in September 2020 under the name Miro.

In the AEW World Championship Eliminator Tournament, Miro replaced Jon Moxley on Dynamite's November 3, 2021. He faced Orange Cassidy and won via submission to move on to the tournament's finals. Bryan Danielson defeated Miro in the Full Gear tournament final. It was disclosed in December 2021 that Miro was recuperating from a hamstring strain.

On June 1, 2022, AEW television saw the return of Miro, who had been out of the ring for six months due to injuries and non-ring-related projects. Miro defeated Johnny Elite via submission. On the Dynamite episode airing May 10, 2023, Miro returned to AEW television and entered Tony Khan's office.

On May 17, 2023, at the Warner Bros. Discovery upfront, AEW said that AEW Collision, a new live series on TNT, debuted on June 17. Miro was revealed as the main feature wrestler. Miro returned as a face in the debut episode of Collision, easily subduing Tony Nese through submission.
