Canadian actor and professional wrestler William Jason Reso was born on November 30, 1973. Under the ring name Christian Cage, he is presently the AEW TNT Champion serving his first reign. Christian Cage's Early Career

Reso enrolled at Sully's Gym in September 1994 to attend Ron Hutchison's wrestling program. Combining the names of stars Christian Slater and Nicolas Cage, Christian Cage was one of his first stage names. Cage's professional wrestling career started in June 1995 with a tie in his match against Zakk Wyld.

Along with Joe E. Legend, Zakk Wyld, Rhino Richards, and Copeland (then known as Sexton Hardcastle), he was a member of the Thug Life stable in 1997. Reso and Copeland were a tag team on the Canadian independent circuit, first going by the names High Impact and then The Suicide Blondes. The team fought in Japan and the United States and held titles in multiple promotions.

Reso was the champion heavyweight of the East Coast Wrestling Association (ECWA) from July 18, 1998, until October 15, 1999. Reso accompanied Copeland to a World Wrestling Federation (WWF) tryout bout, which Copeland was expected to win. The match was held off television.
