#7 Mark Eaton - Average Blocks per Season (5.56)

Utah Jazz
Mark Eaton

Mark Eaton, the 7'4" Giant played for the Utah Jazz for 11 seasons. Eaton was the 72nd overall pick in the 1982 NBA Draft in round 4. Eaton was the master of blocking shots, he has the record for most blocked shots in a season with 456 blocked shots in the 1984-85 NBA season.

Eaton wasn't good at the offensive end, but he had long and quick arms and he decided to honor the shot-blocking job for the team. Before Eaton on the roster in the 1981-82 NBA season, the Utah Jazz had the 4th worst field goal percentage defense (51 percent). After welcoming Eaton, he single-handedly brought the defensive presence in the team and since then the field goal percentage defense went down for the Utah Jazz and they became fairly efficient in defense. Few players in the league were able to defend their team like Eaton and the Utah Jazz gave Eaton a tribute for his unmatched performance by hanging his jersey number (No. 53) at the Delta Center rafter.
