The defending champions of EuroBasket, Spain, los to hosts Slovenia 69 – 78 on day 2 of the ongoing 2013 EuroBasket at Ljubljana, Slovenia. Spain took the first and second quarter 14 – 9 and 19 – 16 respectively to go to the half-time break with a 8 point lead. But the hosts took the third and fourth quarter 27 – 18 and 26 – 18 to win the match 78 – 69. Goran Dragic top scored for Slovenia with 18 points while José Calderón was top scorer for Spain with 14 points.
In another shocking result , one of the favourites to lift the title, Turkey lost to Italy 75 – 90. Italy took the first three quarters 22 – 15, 22 – 15 and 30 – 23 respectively while Turkey took the third quarter 18 – 16. Pietro Aradori was outstanding for Italy with 23 points while Emir Preldzic was the top scorer for Turkey with 9 points.
