2016 NBA Finals: James, Irving setup a thumping win over the Warriors to make it 2-1

The chief tormentors on the night- Kyrie Irving and LeBron James

At the pre-game press conference, LeBron James had said that Game 3 was going to be a do-or-die contest for his side and so it was vital that he and the rest of the Cleveland Cavaliers were on top of their game on Wednesday night.

That last line above is exactly how the Cavs played- on top of their game- and it ensured that the Golden State Warriors were handed a real thumping of 120-90 in front of a jam-packed Quicken Loans Arena.

Like a true leader, who backs his words with performances, James was the star of the show on Wednesday night, with 32 points and was backed by an equally superb Kyrie Irving, who netted 30 points.

A combination of 34 points came also courtesy JR Smith and Tristan Thompson as the 2015 runners-up came out trumps very comfortably in the end.

Stephen Curry provided the Warriors with some cheer with 19 points, but even he could so much on a night that belonged solely to one team.

When asked what he told his teammates before entering the court on the night, James kept it quite simple.

“Follow my lead from the beginning. And do your job!" he said.

Game 4 of the Finals will be played at the same venue on Friday night.
