The 2024 Emirates NBA Cup returned with 10 teams on Tuesday, including a high-flying matchup between the Phoenix Suns and LA Lakers. The Chicago Bulls took care of the Washington Wizards 127-108 while the Milwaukee Bucks survived against the Miami Heat, beating them 106-103 without Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The Houston Rockets needed overtime and a triple-double from Alperen Sengun to beat the Minnesota Timberwolves 115-111, while the San Antonio Spurs cruised against the Utah Jazz, 128-115, to secure an easy win. Last but not least, the Suns, who welcomed Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal back, easily dominated the Lakers 127-100.
These five matchups gave fans a clearer matchup of which teams are closer to making it to the knockout stage.

2024 NBA Cup: Knockout matchups
It's still too early to tell which teams will clash in the knockout stages. Six days remain to determine the six winners of each group and two wild card teams to complete the quarterfinal matchups on Dec. 3.
The next fixture will be on Friday, Nov. 29, which could confirm more teams advancing to the next round of the competition and several more being officially eliminated from the tournament. It's important to remember that the standings will be determined by overall record, head-to-head record and point differential in the case that a tie-breaker is needed.
After the eight teams are defined, the four East squads will be on one side of the bracket and the West teams on the other. The winners of the quarterfinal games will travel to Las Vegas, where the semis and final will be played. The championship game will be held on Dec. 17. The LA Lakers won the first tournament last season, taking down the Indiana Pacers in the final game.
Every game of the tournament except for the championship duel will count for the team's regular-season records.
