24th FIBA Asia Champions Cup: Grouping and Schedule of games announced

FIBA ASIA have announced the groupings and schedule of games for the 24th FIBA ASIA Champions Cup which is going to be held from 13th to 21st September, 2013 at Amman, Jordan. Only nine (9) teams will be participating in this years cup as ASEAN Basketball League (Season 4) champions and SEABA representatives, San Miguel Beermen pulled out of the tournament.

Nine (9) participating teams have been divided into two (2) groups (A and B). 5 teams are drawn in Group A while 4 teams are drawn in Group B. Each team shall play all the other teams in their group. ONGC India is representing South Asia Basketball Association (SABA) in the cup and is drawn in Group B along with Al Rayyan (QAT), Duhok (Iraq) and BC Capchagay (KAZ).

The four best-placed teams from each group will advance to the quarter-finals of the tournament.

The FIBA Asia Champions Cup, previously known as the Asian Basketball Confederation (ABC) Champions Cup until 2002, is Asia’s premier club level basketball competition, involving the champion clubs in Asian countries. It is organized by FIBA Asia and takes place once a year. A total of 10 professional basketball clubs qualify every year from the sub-zones of FIBA Asia.
