#2 Luka Doncic (Dallas Mavericks) - 5 years, $201.5 million

Luka Doncic has been a phenomenon ever since he entered the NBA. The former 3rd overall pick has made the All-NBA first team for the second straight year and seems to have countless future selections ahead of him. Doncic's contract extension with the Mavericks isn't exactly deemed a "supermax," but it is certainly close to it.

When a former first-round pick enters the fourth and final year of their rookie deal, they are eligible to sign an extension worth 25% of the salary cap. This is the case with Doncic as well. But the 22-year-old has gone a step further and also managed to fulfill multiple criteria that make him eligible for a deal worth 30% of the salary cap. Based on MVP votes and All-NBA honors, Doncic met the benchmark of two All-NBA selections in three years.

The Slovenian will earn $8,049,360 in the coming season and $10,174,391 in 2022-23. His extension will come into effect after these two campaigns. Although there are rumors that Doncic is unhappy with the Mavericks organization, his safest option is to sign this deal. This is primarily because he will be a restricted free agent otherwise and the team can just re-sign him considering he is unlikely to get a deal bigger than this elsewhere.

#1 Stephen Curry (Golden State Warriors) - 4 years, $215.4 million

Stephen Curry, arguably the greatest player to have played in a Golden State Warriors jersey, is now eligible for a supermax contract extension for the second time in his career. He didn't sign an extension last season and many speculated it was because the organization wanted to negotiate an even bigger deal with him.

Warriors GM Bob Myers assured fans that their superstar player will be re-signed this offseason and looks set to keep that promise. Curry is in line to become the first player in NBA history to sign a $200M+ deal twice in his career.

Curry recently passed Wilt Chamberlain as the Golden State Warriors' all-time leading scorer. He is rightfully dubbed "Mr Warrior" and deserves every penny coming his way. If the allegedly $215.4 million worth deal is signed, Curry would earn nearly $60 million in the season he turns 38.
