After the Mavericks acquired Porzingis a couple of years ago, the hope was that the versatile big man could become a star alongside Luka Doncic. Unfortunately for the Mavericks organization, Porzingis has simply struggled with inconsistent play. The 26-year-old big man has also been in and out of the lineup recently with a number of nagging injuries. Once Jason Kidd was hired, he's made it a point of emphasis to make sure that Porzingis can be the player he once was earlier in his career. So far in pre-season, it looks as if it has been working. Porzingis has played some of his best basketball and it will be fascinating to see if he can continue to do the same for the Mavericks over the early portion of the 2021-22 NBA season.

Luka Doncic has been nothing short of spectacular ever since he stepped onto the NBA floor. He's become one of the most dangerous offensive players in the game, as his versatility on the offensive side of the ball has become a must watch TV on a nightly basis. It will be interesting to see if Doncic can take another step forward, especially with his first new head coach. After putting up some ridiculous numbers during the Olympics, Doncic has looked in improved physical condition and could be preparing himself for a career year. The Mavericks invested in their superstar as they signed Doncic to a massive extension this summer. After a year in which many thought Doncic could be in the MVP conversation, don't rule out the possibility of Luka being one of the top candidates in the NBA to bring home the prestigious award.
