Predicting the West Starters & Reserves for the 2018 All-Star Game

Oklahoma City Thunder v Golden State Warriors
Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook definitely make it. Who else?

West Starting Frontcourt

DeMarcus Cousins, Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis
DeMarcus Cousins, Kevin Durant, Anthony Davis

Kevin Durant - Golden State Warriors

Anthony Davis - New Orleans Pelicans

DeMarcus Cousins - New Orleans Pelicans

Kevin Durant is the main reason the Warriors have been able to cruise to a 9-2 record despite playing without 2-time MVP Stephen Curry. Carrying the team in another star's absence is one thing but Durant was making a name for himself even before Curry went down - on the defensive end of the floor with his block average (league-leading 2.3). He's played in 31 of the team's 36 games averaging 26.1 points, 7.0 rebounds and 5.1 assists on 50.0% shooting and 39.3% 3-point shooting.

While making these selections for the All-Star Game, the aim is to reward the best players on the best teams. And while the New Orleans Pelicans aren't running away with wins, their monster frontcourt duo of Anthony Davis and DeMarcus Cousins have almost everything to do with their 18-17 record.

If it wasn't for the team's disastrous bench, the numbers put out by this duo would surely lead to more wins. The Spurs, the Warriors, and the Thunder have more wins which could have made the case for maybe Paul George or LaMarcus Aldridge to be a starter for the West but the numbers put up by Davis and Cousins are just insane.

Here are their averages through 35 games:

Davis (30 games played) - 25.7 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.4 assists, 2.0 blocks

Cousins (35 games) - 26.1 points, 12. 3 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.5 blocks
