#3 The Golden State Warriors can look at other options
There have been rumors that the Golden State Warriors will give away their second overall pick for assets and a lower pick in the first round in the 2020 NBA Draft.
NBA insiders have reported that the Warriors have shown interest in Arizona State guard Nico Mannion. If the franchise is to follow this route, it would make perfect sense to draft Mannion, as he is predicted to be picked late in the first round and would fulfil some of the team's squad depth requirements.
Following the same route, the franchise has also shown interest in Onyeka Okongwu, who is a center predicted to go late in the lottery.
With the vast amount of options available to the Golden State Warriors, they might not throw them all away to draft James Wiseman.
#4 Wiseman won't be on the same timeline as the franchise's aging core
Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green are all on the wrong side of 30 years old.
After being arguably the most dominant team in the NBA for the last five years, the Golden State Warriors are looking to climb back to the same level of dominance.
With their three stars all in their primes, the franchise will have a 'win now' mentality, and will look for a valuable addition who can contribute to a championship run.
Rookies picked in the lottery of any given NBA Draft need time to adapt and develop, which is something the Warriors can't afford to give too much of to any player.
James Wiseman could go on to be a star in the NBA, but the time he would take to develop into one, simply wouldn't match up with the timeline of the Golden State Warriors.
#5 The Warriors could use the power of the second overall pick
The second pick in the NBA Draft can, and reportedly will, be used by the Golden State Warriors as a trade asset to acquire a more proven and suitable player for the Warriors' system.
Reports have suggested that the franchise could pair the pick with players like Andrew Wiggins and even Eric Paschall in order to bring in a star-caliber center into the team, thereby bolstering their chances to push for an NBA Championship.
Even if the Warriors pick James Wiseman, it will be due to a deal with a different team, flipping him over along with a few more assets to potentially gain that final piece that can contribute to a championship during the next few years.
