5 reasons why Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving will not win an NBA Championship with Brooklyn Nets

#3. Steve Nash's coaching experience

While Steve Nash's talent and experience as a player are unquestionable, he has little to no experience as a coach. Though he did work as a 'Player Development Consultant' with the Golden State Warriors in the past, he wasn't involved in the team's strategic or tactical planning.

Steve Nash has led multiple teams in the past as a player but has never won a championship. His inexperience might hurt him for a few years while the Brooklyn Nets try to live up to the tall expectations of the New York fans.

#2. Kyrie Irving and the locker room chemistry

Kyrie Irving has an infamous reputation for creating locker room conflicts. After leaving Cleveland Cavaliers because he 'didn't want to play under LeBron James', Kyrie took over the leadership of the Boston Celtics. Ironically, the Celtics ended up being worse than they were the previous year without him.

After joining the Brooklyn Nets, he said the team has 'glaring needs' in order to reach the next level and omitted a few names while listing important team members. While there's no denying Irving's talents on the basketball court, his 'leadership' might do more harm than good for the Brooklyn Nets.

#1. Kevin Durant's health

This might be the biggest X factor for the Brooklyn Nets' future. Kevin Durant, arguably the best player in the NBA, went down with an Achilles injury during the 2019 NBA Finals. He didn't play a single game during this season and will be returning to action in 2020-21.

Although the 31-year-old seems confident about a successful comeback, an Achilles tear is among the worst injuries an athlete can suffer. While players like DeMarcus Cousins, Rudy Gay, and Kobe Bryant have managed to return from an Achilles injury, they were just a shadow of their former selves after the return.

The Brooklyn Nets will hope that Durant can be an exception to this trend and will be keen to see him get back to being his absolute best in the upcoming years.
