The Los Angeles Lakers have long been eliminated from playoff contention, however, the teams 122-117 win over the Clippers was something to celebrate. A win over their closest rivals supplied the Lakers with a much-needed boost ahead of a pivotal offseason, whereas Alex Caruso continued his surprise emergence with an incredible individual performance.

The 25-year-old had 32 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in the Lakers' win, joining LeBron James as the only Laker this season to eclipse 30 points and 10 rebounds in a game. Over his last ten appearances, Caruso has averaged 12.3 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 3.2 assists in 27.2 minutes per game, while the guard is also shooting at a ridiculous 51% from beyond the arc.

Caruso is currently signed to a two-way contract, although thanks to his performances over the last month, he is likely to land a permanent contract for the 19/20 season - and here are three of the teams that he could be representing next October.

#3 Boston Celtics

As it currently stands the Celtics are well stacked at the point guard position. The team have a starting All-Star in Kyrie Irving, while the promising Terry Rozier is among the best backups in the NBA. However, both players have been strongly linked with a summer move away from Boston, and Irving, in particular, looks likely to bolt in free agency.

The Celtics may be able to keep Rozier by promoting him to the starting position he craves, although but the team will still need to add depth to the bench. Based on his performances over the last few weeks, Caruso appears to be able to make a major contribution from a contending bench, and he could be a potential steal for Boston.

#2 Oklahoma City Thunder

The Lakers are likely to be contending with the Thunder for a playoff spot next season, although the teams could also face off for the services of Caruso.

According to Royce Young of ESPN, the Thunder view backup point guard Dennis Schroder as a re-tradeable asset -- who is likely to be moved this summer due to his large salary. Meanwhile, veteran Raymond Felton will soon turn 35, and there have been no indications that he will stick around for a further year.

If both were to ultimately leave, the Thunder would be left without a backup point guard to Russell Westbrook, and luxury tax restrictions mean that the team would need to sign a player to a minimum deal.

Caruso fits this bill, and his ability to knock down three's would also be a major boost to a Thunder team that is among the worst in the NBA from range.

#1 Los Angeles Lakers

While Caruso has only started to steal the headlines over the past few weeks, the guard also turned out for the Lakers on 37 occasions last season. This included seven starts compared to his two this season, and it seems evident that Luke Walton is a big fan of the two-way guard.

Caruso's recent appearances have included breakout games against the Pelicans and Warriors, and the Lakers are sure to be considering handing the former Texas A&M man a full-time contract. It is also worth noting that if the Lakers acquire a second star this summer, the franchise will need to fill out the roster with cheap contracts, and signing Caruso seems like an easy decision.

As a player who went undrafted back in the 2016 draft, Caruso himself seems to be living the dream on a Lakers roster that includes LeBron James, and if the Lakers offer him a full-time contract, it is hard to imagine the 25-year-old turning it down.
