MUMBAI, INDIA, SEPT 28, 2013 – NBA JAM 2013 concluded with the exciting Grand National Finals held on September 29 at Mehboob Studios. Presented by the National Basketball Association (NBA) and SONY SIX, NBA Jam features the largest 3-on-3 basketball tournament ever staged in India with stops at Hyderabad, Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai. The month long festival saw participation of over 500 teams and 1900 players across two age divisions for men and women competing, 16-18 and 19-23 years old; performances from top musical artists and well-known DJs each day; and an array of on and off the court activities for fans.
In the first NBA-Style experience, Mehboob Studio Hall reverberated to beats of the splendid music and the thud of the players feet as they leapt for a basket during action in the NBA JAM National Finals. Coming up triumphant were Bangalore hoopsters who claimed three of the four titles.
The men’s clash was a thriller all the way with Jain University from Bangalore edging out Bharti University from Delhi 21-19. Kaif with 12 points and Vashash with 4 points stood out for Jain while Praveen with 14 points did well for the Delhi lads. Mounts Club, representing Bangalore in the women’s category, won their final with a degree of comfort. In the boy’s category, Surana College, Bangalore were made to sweat for honours.
Mounts Club of Bangalore, were well served by Roshini who got the chunk of baskets, scoring 10 points to breeze past Hyderabad women 13-3. For Hyderabad, N Sneha got the 3 points.
In the Girls category, however, Bangalore All-Stars went down to Pune Tigers, 09-05, in the Bangalore participants’ only defeat of the night.

The national finals witnessed the first-ever live NBA experience in India with fans getting an opportunity to enjoy small scale NBA-style in-arena entertainment and variety of activities and contests. The finals will be televised by SONY SIX – NBA’s broadcast partners in India.
The winners from four cities competed for the coveted title and an opportunity to team up with NBA Legends Horace Grant and Ron Harper to play in the NBA Legends Game. In addition, the National Finals for the Adidas Hoopstars three-point contest was held with the national champion receiving an opportunity to shoot against Harper. The Sacramento Kings Dance team, New York Knicks Slam Dunk team and Miami Heat Mascot showcased their talent and enthralled the audience.
The finals were also marked by the presence of renowned celebrities such as Nikhil Chinappa, VJ Bani, Raanvijay, Sushma Reddy, Carol Gracias, Neetu Chandra amongst others.
Shaa’ir + Func and Brodha V set the stage on fire with their riveting performances. Fans also had an opportunity to participate in various on court activities which included three-point contests and skills challenges and win prizes. A technology boutique featuring social media fan integration and an NBA photo and video wall were setup at the venue. Fans that used #NBAJam on Twitter and Instagram got a chance to have their tweets and photos featured on the NBA Jam main video screen and win prizes. A gaming zone was created in which fans had the opportunity to compete in an NBA2K13 video game tournament on PlayStation PS3 gaming consoles.
The NBA and SONY SIX have also partnered with Adidas, Sprite, Indiatimes.com, and the Basketball Federation of India for the NBA JAM. As a part of NBA Jam, the Larry O’Brien Championship Trophy was on display for fans at Adidas stores in all the four cities. Fans that visited these Adidas stores had the opportunity to enter a sweepstakes and win a chance to meet one of the NBA Legends.
The NBA and SONY SIX announced plans for NBA Jam in July at a press conference in Mumbai, attended by two-time NBA Champion Chris Bosh of the Miami Heat. The month long festival saw fantastic response and participation from the youth.
