I am a mere 15 year old basketball aspirant of Delhi , India. India these days has a alot of basketball fans and players nowadays . I personally just love this sport , but whenever it comes to becoming a basketball player when i grow old , this all seems just so useless! In India , basketball , the word , its just a hobby or a passion not a profession. In America or Europe for instance , basketball can be a profession for the talented , they can think of becoming a pro baller. The reason why we cant think of it ? Corruption! And not lack of talent!
You pick out any national team of India , A-N-Y , you will find that there is a community formed by the coach that has its selected players all those who are overaged . In the national championship of under 14 , these players varying from age 16-19 , even sometimes having children , are on the court , PLAYING! The team has a total of 12 players out of which 6-8 players are from this community . They do not have to perform whereas the other players are tried during the selection of the team! And if we talk about the remaining 4-5 players in the team , then 2-3 of them are the either the relatives of the coach or the coach have been paid money to put them on the list of the players! I dont know what satisfaction it gives these players to just sit on the bench and when come home tell the parents and relatives that , I WON A MEDAL IN THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP! Just 2-3 players are selected according to the potential! Whenever you see a national championship final in India , notice that at most times the host state is the winner. What is it ? CORRUPTION!

In America or in Europe the college level is even much more competetive than the national level of India ! At first if a baller plays in the NCAA (College level in the USA!) He is so much more reputated than the unknown national players here in India! The infrastructure and development of basketball here in India is so slow that it would be very hard for the basketball aspirants to opt this profession! The USA has modern gyms and centrally air conditioned indoor courts in every school and college for the development of player strength and physique. But i can count the number of indoor courts n gyms in India on my fingers!Recently a coach from the US came to india to train the Indian team for the Asian games ! But just resigned after the games saying that the player have bright basketball skills but there in tha asian games , they coudnt compete as there was so much difference in the playing atmosphere :- The indian players were trained to play in so much heat and humidity , which wasnt there in china as they had centrally conditioned indoor courts , so they had problems warming up!

The coach even said that the players from the other teams had a good physique compared to the Indian players as Indians resist eating meat and the other country players dont!So I am forced , very dissappointed and dejected to ask again , BASKETBALL AS A PROFESSION IN INDIA? :(
