The All-NBA Team of the Week (March 7-13)

Andre Drummond

With only a few weeks worth of regular season left, the league is heating up and all the teams are giving all they have to get those coveted top Playoff seeds in their respective conferences. Some are looking to make the Playoffs whereas some are working towards getting higher up and securing home court advantage. Here are the best players this past week (March 7 to March 13) who took their game to a level above the rest. These five come together to make this past week’s All NBA-first team:

#5 C- Andre Drummond

Andre Drummond

It wasn’t the best week for the Centers in the league since all of them had at least one off game. However, Pistons big man Drummond was the key factor as him playing well was the deciding factor between a win and a loss for Detroit. In 2 out of 3 games this week, he played like the All-Star he is by averaging 22 points, 16 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal.

Jumpman Drummond is a rebounding machine and his skills may determine whether or not the Pistons make the Playoffs this season. The Detroit Pistons currently hold the 8th seed in the Eastern Playoffs.

#4 PF- Giannis Antetokounmpo

Giannis Antetokounmpo

The Greek Freak is doing everything in his power to put Milwaukee back on the map but sadly Jason Kidd’s Bucks have a while to go before they make a Playoff run. They had a great week, losing just one of their four matchups. Giannis played a major role by getting a double-double against Chicago and a triple-double against Brooklyn.

The Human Alphabet leads the league in fouls and will probably take a while to achieve his true potential. However, this week was a testament to his sheer power as he dominated the hardwood by averaging 20.5 points, 8.5 assists, 7 rebounds and 2.3 steals.

#3 SF- LeBron James

LeBron James duelling against Kobe Bryant for the last time

LeBron had a very emotional week as he took on his childhood idol for the final time at Staples Center. It gave closure to the rivalry that never really developed as they never faced off in the Finals and peaked whenever the other didn’t. There was a lot of mutual respect and love among them to actually become a fierce rivalry.

LeBron had a feel good game when he got more than a few opportunities to match up with Kobe and they both played well with James securing the W for the Cavs. He had a successful week cleaning out 3 of the 4 games he had on his schedule by averaging 26 points, 5.8 assists and 7.8 rebounds.

#2 SG- DeMar DeRozan

DeMar DeRozan

Just 2.5 games behind the Cavaliers, the Toronto Raptors are standing tall by holding the 2nd seed in the Eastern Conference. Majority of the credit for that goes to the backcourt duo of Kyle Lowry and the high flying DeMar DeRozan. DeRozan ensured that the Raptors win all their games this week by averaging 31 points, 3 assists, 6 rebounds and 2 steals.

To make things sweeter, he scored a season high 38 points against Miami’s finest in a nail-biting overtime battle at home.

#1 PG- Stephen Curry

Stephen Curry

If he keeps shooting the ball the way he has been this season, only a fool will argue with Steph Curry’s chances to will the 2016 MVP award. This past week, he added another feather to his crowded hat by being the first player in NBA history to make 300 3s in a single season. When he came up against Utah on the 9th, Curry sunk yet another 55 feet buzzer beater to close the half.

He then teamed up with his splash brother to bring down Lillard’s Trailblazers by making a combined 15 3-pt shots. The Golden State Warriors really needed Curry to get their final win of the week when he came back from the bench in the 4th quarter to turn a 9 point deficit to a 7 point lead. Curry averaged 30.5 points, 5.8 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 2.3 steals this week making him the undisputed Point Guard of the week.
