Boston Celtics Rumors: Celtics could move for Clint Capela, Enes Kanter among players that could be traded and more

The Boston Celtics were among the most active teams during the offseason as key players such as Kyrie Irving, Al Horford and Terry Rozier all left. The Celtics responded by bringing in Kemba Walker and Enes Kanter while Brad Stevens has guided his young team to a 4-1 start to the 19-20 season.

When combining Boston's early season form with the lack of competition in the East, there's no reason for them to think they cannot compete this season - and an ambitious front office may make several moves over the coming months. So with the potential for plenty to happen, here we take a look at all the latest Celtics rumours you need to know:

#3 Signing a center is priority, Clint Capela could be targeted before trade deadline

The Celtics have been in the market to sign a big for much of the past year, although a summer move for Anthony Davis never got off the ground. Nevertheless, ESPN's Brian Windhorst believes adding a center remains a priority for the Celtics and Clint Capela is among the options they will consider in the coming months:

Another center executives are watching is Clint Capela, who was dangled in trade talks early last summer but got pulled back when the Houston Rockets went all-in on a Russell Westbrook deal. If the Rockets need midseason changes, and they almost always itch for them, Capela could be available again.

Capela has started the new season well, averaging 14.8 points and 8.2 rebounds in 27.0 minutes per contest. Nevertheless, the Rockets have James Harden and Russell Westbrook signed to long-term expensive deals and the front office could be open to letting Capela leave in order to make further additions to the roster.

#2 Enes Kanter is among the names that could be traded

Following a strong showing for the Portland Trail Blazers during the 2019 playoffs, the Celtics signed Enes Kanter to a two-year, $10m contract. However, Kanter has played just once for the Celtics this term and many have questioned his ability to start for a contending team.

According to John Karalis of Mass Live, Kanter is among the players the Celtics could include in trade talks as the season progresses:

Daniel Theis and Enes Kanter have value as guys who make approximately $5 million and can help facilitate trade matching.

During his lone appearance for the Celtics, Kanter managed 12 points and six rebounds in 25 minutes. He should return from injury in the next week, although the Turkish center appears to have a difficult task in proving to the C's front office that he shouldn't be moved.

#1 Atlanta Hawks were targeting Jaylen Brown ahead of contract extension

Heading into the contract extension deadline last week, few expected Jaylen Brown to sign a new deal with the Celtics after negotiations initially broke down. Nevertheless, he eventually agreed a four-year, $115m deal and is set to play a significant long-term role for the Celtics.

Before finally penning his extension, Brown was linked to a number of teams and Shams Charania of The Athletic is reporting that the Atlanta Hawks were among the teams interested in signing the 23-year-old:

Before Pacers forward Domantas Sabonis and Celtics forward Jaylen Brown reached contract extension agreements, the Hawks were believed to be interested in either player as a restricted free agent, sources said.

So far this season, Brown has averaged 17.3 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 28.7 minutes per contest, and the Georgia native appears to be set for a big campaign after a muted third year in Boston.
