The Boston Celtics vs Cleveland Cavaliers duel started with the Cavaliers going on a 9-0 run before the Celtics woke up and leveled things up. Without Jaylen Brown on the court, Kristaps Porzingis and Jayson Tatum took over, dropping nine and seven points, respectively.
On the other end, Darius Garland led the way for Cleveland with six points. Both Donovan Mitchell and Georges Niang contributed five points each to help the Cavs take the first period 28-24.
Despite an early takeoff from the Cavaliers in the second quarter, the Celtics kept up and finished the period up by two points (25-23), entering halftime down by the same number.
The Celtics took off in the third quarter and drifted away from Cleveland, taking this quarter with a 35-21 win. The final quarter was as close as they come, with the Cavaliers making a comeback, tying the game at 101 with 1:40 left on the clock after scoring 29 points in the final period.
The Cavaliers took the advantage in the final minute, scoring four more points with 34 seconds left. After a series of free throws, Donovan Mitchell made his final two attempts to give the Cavs the final 115-111 lead. Jrue Holiday attempted a last-second 3-pointer, but missed it, ending the game.
The Cavaliers will return to action on Tuesday against the Washington Wizards while the Celtics are set to play tomorrow night against the Miami Heat.
