After not getting much playing time in his first three seasons, Bol Bol has been given an opportunity to showcase his talents with the Orlando Magic this year. He was an extremely intriguing prospect entering the league, and now we are starting to see why.
This season, Bol Bol is averaging 13.5 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game. On top of that, he is shooting a stellar 41.9% from beyond the arc.
Standing at 7-foot-2, Bol is a unicorn on the basketball court. Between his shot blocking, outside shooting and flashes of shot creation, there isn't much he can't do.
On Monday night, Bol erupted for 24 points and six rebounds in a 109-102 loss to the Brooklyn Nets. In one sequence, he grabbed a rebound and casually walked down the floor and got a 3-pointer to fall from the top of the key.
As this highlight made its way to social media, one player couldn't help but praise the 23-year-old. Washington Wizards forward Kyle Kuzma took to Twitter to say that a team needs to build around Bol Bol.
"Build around bol bol," Kuzma tweeted.
Bol Bol is a basketball enigma
Seeing how he's performed this year, it's crazy that it took this long for Bol Bol to get a larger opportunity in the league. The Denver Nuggets acquired him after the Miami Heat chose him in the second round (No. 44) in 2019, but rarely gave him consistent playing time.
With his set of skills, Bol is an enigma in the NBA. Kyle Kuzma might be stretching things by saying a team needs to build around him, but he is one of the league's most fascinating players right now.
Not only is Bol an exciting prospect, but he is in a perfect situation to reach his full potential. The Orlando Magic are in the early phases of a rebuild with their primary focus being developing their young talent.
As he continues to hone his skills, Bol could become a key piece for the Magic. With the flashes he's shown, he has all the potential to become a force on both ends of the floor.
His size and length can allow him to roam on defense and be a rim protector. Also, Bol can score from just about anywhere on the offensive end.
It might have taken some time, but Bol Bol is finally getting his shot to prove he belongs in the NBA. With each passing game, he is proving to be one of the game's most exciting young talents.
