Cleveland Cavaliers vs New York Knicks preview
The Cavs, who couldn’t get a single win in the preseason, have gotten off to a great start. They started the regular season with a 136-106 blowout win against the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday. It was followed up by a 113-101 win against the Detroit Pistons and a 135-116 victory over the Washington Wizards.
While Cleveland has been clinical so far, its first true test against a playoff contender will come in the form of the Knicks. In the Cavaliers’ win against Washington on Saturday, Donovan Mitchell scored 30 points.
The Knicks, who acquired Karl-Anthony Towns, just before training camp, were touted as one of the favorites in the East. However, they were dealt a reality check in the regular-season opener against the defending champs, the Boston Celtics. New York lost 132-109, as the Celtics tied the record for most 3s in a game with 29.
New York did get a convincing 123-98 win against the Indiana Pacers on Friday. Jalen Brunson had 26 points, five assists and five rebounds, while Towns had 21 points and 15 rebounds.
Cleveland Cavaliers vs New York Knicks betting props
Donovan Mitchell’s points total is set at 24.5. He averages 23.3 points in three games so far. He could struggle against the New York defense and end up with less than 24.5 points.
Karl-Anthony Towns’ points prop is set at 21.5. KAT averages 22.6 points in 11 games against the Cavs. While he is in a new team, expect the production level to stay the same and Towns to score over 21.5 points
Cleveland Cavaliers vs New York Knicks prediction
The Knicks are slightly favored by the oddsmakers to win at home. New York did a good job of putting the Boston loss behind it and blowing out Indiana. While Cleveland is expected to put up more resistance, we expect the Knicks to cover the spread for a win. This should be a defensive game with the team total staying under 221 points.
